ABOUT US

In 2015, the Office of International Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine (OIAFM) was created under the authority of the Dean as a support body and comprehensive management to advice and support the initiatives of academics, researchers, students and the university community as whole.


WHAT DO WE DO 

The main purposes of the Office are focused on strengthening and promoting international cooperation associations for research, academic and cultural exchange with prestige’s institutions of higher education worldwide. The Office supports and guides academics and researchers to initiate agreements for joint activities, faculty and student mobility both at the undergraduate and graduate levels from and to the Faculty.

Margarita Ahumada

With over 30 years of experience in the field of international education, she obtained her master’s degree in Higher Education Management specializing in the Internationalization of Academia at the Univeristy of New Orleans, U.S.
Margarita is an experienced consultant in University Internationalization. She worked for 17 years at the Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, developing and implementing international business programs. Her professional experience in international education began in Chile with Universidad de Tarapacá, Arica, and Universidad de la Frontera, Temuco.
In the United States, in addition to Tulane University, she worked in developing programs for the internationalization of University of Oregon and University of New Orleans. She returned to Chile in 2016, and joined the Faculty of Medicine at Universidad de Chile as Associate Director of the Office of International Affairs.
She loves all forms of art, dance and photography being her favorites. She also likes trekking and cycling on weekends.

Ximena is the coordinator responsible for International Student Mobility of the Faculty of Medicine in all Sciences Health related careers. She provides students information on:
• Universities with current agreements for student mobility.
• Careers and academic levels at which mobility can be implemented.
• Study abroad opportunities for an academic semester, clinical rotations, internships, and research.
• Funding scholarship opportunities to study abroad.
• Current calls.
• Application requirements and deadlines.
